Issue 26 - Regular & The Wreckers - Long Way to Pandora

Regula's Battleship - Deep Space

Lord Darkstar The Younger

Regula is currently struggling with her identity is on the run from her friends on Earth. She's connected with Lord Darkstar and the Regulan Resistance to try and overthrow her Mother, rather than give in to her ultimatum and help her conquer her home.

She's been having a hard time with her new crew, and her Regulan Battleship (The Adjudicator) is damaged from the most recent encounter with the her mother's forces.

Her crew currently consists of -

Little Brim - Nova, Vaddi Vim, one of the last scions of Paracelsus Temperance - Harbinger, Raya... something. A girl stuck out of time with memories of a haunted future. Briv - Transformed, half human, half weapon, liquid metal.

Darkstar briefs the crew on the mission. There's an old school Regulan working for the Ominoans who might have some information about how to take down Queen Regula. They'll be at an Galactic Arbitrators space station.

They're going to be looking for Kalka the Huntress who Regula's old team have had a few hostile encounters with (See Issues 3, 5, 24).

Temperance asking if they're looking for information or an ally. Darkstar answers "Yes."

Looking deadly as usual

Galactic 9 - The Gatekeeper System

The crew approach on the Regulan Battlecruiser directly towards the station. Regula and Temperance broadcast a neutral message towards the nervous station officials who give permission to dock. RT takes care of docking.

Aboard the station they enter the concourse and encounter a station customs official. They are horrified at the sight of Briv, and insist on a medical scan. He offers to wait on the ship, but Regula intimidates him at which point he recognises her. Regula gets slightly violent and gets access passes for everyone, terrifying the guard.

They head to the Cantina hoping to get a lead. Brim goes to the bar looing for information - he finds out about an exotic auction going on - invite only, exclusive artifacts, weapons, fauna etc. They'll struggle to get in unless they're buying or selling.

Black Hole Hotel - Galactic 9

The team debate whether to try and use Regula's supposed wealth as a ticket, sell the ship, and eventually head for the auction with a plan to sell Briv as part of the auction.

"It's just another day of suffering"

- Briv

Temperance has a flash of Briv in the future. She remembers creatures made of a similar liquid metal that attack her and her resistance members. He's a Monster. She is allowed to approach the lizard Space Baron Drazi, organiser of the auction.

She claims he's a Liquid Metal Combat Cyborg from the year 2179, and that he's worth 750m space credits. He agrees to sell Briv, but demands a way to control it - she blags that it's a combination of voice key and a psychic frequency. He puts Briv into a cage and they wheel him through to the backstage of the auction.

The team head through to the auction and see Kalka accompanied by Worldkiller robots enjoying the party before the auction.

Regular approaches Kalka incognito and claims to have a tip on an item in the auction. Regula unmasks and offers to swap it for information that will help her kill her mother. Huntress remembers how much fun pulling the wool over Queen Regula's eyes they had at the wedding, and asks after Jen.

The auction for Briv begins, a "one of a kind killing machine". Regula proposes that if Kalka gives the information then she'll kill the Queen, but Kalka claims that if she wanted that she'd handle it by herself and that there isn't a home to go back to. One women is holding together the empire together.

Temperance and Regula get the idea that Kalka is working for Ominus as a way to stay safe from the Regulans, not necessarily because she believes in his cause, and that she isn't normally a betting woman but she'll take a chance - they need to go to the Planet Pandora.

She wishes them luck, and Regula threatens that if she ever comes after Jen again...

Meanwhile Briv demonstrates his powers by breaking out of the cell, starting a small riot. Baron Drazi is enraged as the team try and escape with the merchandise. Brim blows up the window with an improvised bomb and the team get back to the ship. They apologise to Galactic 9 Control on the way out.

Planet Pandora - Orbit

They hyperjump to the Pandora system and hop into the Leonis, and identify one liveable planet that has a strange atmosphere that they can't penetrate with sensors.

Defending the approach to the planet they encounter standing on the moon a M-ART. a humungous version of the humble butler Android Regula's mother uses. ART comes on the communicator telling them that it's trying to raise an alarm, he's jamming it for now, but it won't last forever.

Have you got anything?

- Regula

A deep sense of unease?

- Brim

Temperance tries to use her powers to mask the signal of the Leonis to stay out of sight but it doesn't go well. Brim creates a construct to distract M-ART in order to get everyone else close enough. Regula let's everyone know they need to take off the head. Temperance leaps onto the head doing some damage, but ends up in it's grasp, she tries to absorb the impact of it hitting her, but ends up absorbing all of the the power from the Leonis as well, and the control panel goes dead. Brim uses his powers to keep the ship safe and navigates to a safe space between M-ART's ankles. Briv having ejected from the ship heads into the ear of the robot, liquifies himself and goes on the attack, freeing Temperance, disabling the robot which with it's last gasp it fails to hurt him.

As the crippled M-ART makes an uncontrolled descent into the atmosphere the team ride the Leonis alongside it towards the surface of the planet. They see some small Bronze Age style settlements, and can see that M-ART is heading towards a mountain, a body of water, and a nearby settlement.
